Digitization

The grant program was created to increase digital access to Saskatchewan's cultural and historical record and to develop partnerships among different types of libraries and other information sectors including archives, museums, cultural institutions, etc.  It was also intended to build digitization capacity among information providers, including the ability to use standards that allow for interoperability among digital collections.

This project is directed by the Saskatchewan Digital Alliance.  Participation is open to any institution or organization in Saskatchewan with material from permanent collections eligible for digitization.  Material may be in any format (photos, documents, published materials, sound and film) and must be copyright-cleared in order to be made freely available on the internet.  The intent of participants should also be to use the project to enhance digitization skills and build their capacity for digital projects.  Participants contribute staff (paid or volunteer) to scan and catalogue items under the general direction of the Technical Coordinator (hired and supervised by the SDA).
